Description

The Redbud is also known as the eastern redbud and can be found throughout the eastern United States and into southern Ontario. It is a large shrub or small tree that is known for its beautiful pink flowers that appear in early spring, often before tree leaves form. It is prized as an ornamental and is extensively planted. It grows best on well-drained, moist soils but is tolerant of a wide variety of site conditions. The flowers of the tree can be put into salads and are also regarded as an important in the production of honey by bees. (Source: Silvics of North America)
